EEK! I was off in the workshop making hedgehog tatting shuttles, and decided to give the buffing wheel a try….
Bad idea….
The polishing wheel grabbed my poor little hedgehog and launched it off into space.
To infinity and beyond!
Unidentified Flying Hedgehog!
Gone. Vanished. Bye bye hedgehog!
sigh.
So, it’s back to hand sanding and buffing for me. It stinks when I’ve spent an hour making a tatting shuttle, and then it goes flying off into space. Never to be seen again.
If you see my UFH (unidentified flying hedgehog), please send him home again!
Hmmmmm….. he may be travelling the world…..
oh where, oh where has my hedgehog gone?

I’m sorry for your loss, Noreen.
But your retelling of the UFH incident really made me smile.
It made me think of the time I was trying to refill a red ink cartridge (without first having read the directions for the new ink refill kit). The entire room – myself included – looked like we had the measles!

Yikes! and ink has a way of spreading and spreading once it gets wet! ugh!
As I was writing the little tale of woe about the flying hedgehog, I thought…. hmmmm…..
it would be fun to imagine all sorts of adventures of a small travelling hedgehog…. LOL!

I expected you would think that and I look forward to reading your whimsical tales.
First he needs a name (I assume it was a “he”) …
Ulysses Francis Hedgehog
Ulysses Froederick Hedgehog
I guess I’m also assuming he’s Germanic

Not reached the UK yet. I’ll let you know if he does!!!! I’ve got a pattern for a flying pig – wonder if I should do a flying hedgehog now?

Oh, yes please, Jane! your designs are astonishing and wonderful. When you do your flying hedgehog, I will have to tat one with one of my hedgehog shuttles. Will have to use one of the ones that didn’t fly away, though! Luckily, the flying hedgehog came from a family that has many children, so he has brothers and sisters and cousins, too.
Looking forward to seeing your flying hedgehog, and if mine zooms past to take a peek, do let me know!

Have you visited author/illustrator Jan Brett’s web site (www.janbrett.com)? Maybe he’s visiting Heggie, her resident hedgehog.

At least you’re in good enough humour about losing the hedgehog to share with us what happened to him. I couldn’t help giggling, even if I knew it was a little mean of me.
November 12, 2008 at 5:19 am |
Well, Heather if the little guy shows up in your house, could you send him back to mine? LOL!
(thanks!)

Lol, yeah, sure, but he’d be on a real adventure getting all the way here. But I suppose you just never know.
