I’ve been reading a wonderful book by Kathleen Norris, in which she talks about the need for people to feel a sense of potential and promise.
I’ve been doing a lot of praying for peace over the last few weeks as people in the Middle East have been lobbing bombs at each other, and other folks in other places have been destroying other people’s dreams and possibilities….
Last week, as I was thinking about peace, and how we build hope, I felt inspired to get out my paints and paint one of the spool knitters that has been waiting patiently here in the studio.
Here’s the result: The Spirit of Peace spool knitter:

So, here’s to peace, and to possibilities, and to promise and potential!

Thank you so much, Cyndi. Spool knitting is so meditative and contemplative that painting images that invoke peace onto our one of a kind spool knitters is a natural for me.

So pretty and inspirational. Do you put a lacquer coat on to protect the painting when use the spool knitter? Or are these beauties you paint simply for display?

Thanks, Eileen.
I varnish them to protect the painting. All our spool knitters are meant to be used, and hopefully enjoyed for years!

Dear Noreen,
Your spool knitter is beautiful, and the meaning behind her Spirit of Peace spool knitter has touched me.
As you know I live in Israel. Getting through the weeks of being bombed my crafts have helped me. In the area of the house where we would go when the sirens went off, I kept a small triangle loom, knitting and a spool knitter, to keep my hands busy.
I had prepared a bag of cardboard looms and extra yarn to bring to the bomb shelter to keep children busy at that time. But as it worked out most people found safe rooms in their homes.
My her spirit travel the world over
Hugs,
Beth
