I decided it was time to finish weaving the pieces for the new Saori style Gypsy jacket and get stitching them together.
So… I pulled the plug out and got to work.

I like to do most of the stitching by hand, but do re-enforce the back neck edge with machine stitching, as it takes the lion’s share of the weight of the jacket.
After 2 days of stitching away on the jacket, I thought… oh oh… what if I don’t like the jacket…. or what if it doesn’t fit?
I assumed that since the first woven jacket fits just fine, that this one would, too…. and then had the ‘yikes’ about it….
It fits the furgrandkid beautifully, with a little room to spare…

At first I thought that the new jacket was a little shorter than I wanted it to be…. but, my husband disagrees…. he thinks it’s just the right length.

If I do decide to add more length to the hem, it’s easily done. Just weave up a band, and stitch it on.

Alright… this jacket is done… now back to work on the new book! 🙂

I’ve adjusted and adapted the pattern. I used 6 different looms for the jacket.
The new book is a book of small loom weaving and I am loving working on it!
I’ll be talking about it more as I get closer to the release date. 🙂

And, yes, the new book is about small loom weaving, and the projects and techniques are seriously scrumptious and FUN!!! BUT…. I have to stop weaving jackets and get back in gear on the book LOL! 🙂

It is a toy plastic loom, it looks interesting, it has a little plastic piece that flips to change the shed. It is a bit flimsy but I like the design. Looking forward to the new book.

Noreen, that is gorgeous. Are you going to take a picture of you wearing it? I’d love to see it on you.
I want to make one similiar for Sarah’s grad, coming up in June. I ordered the book from Terri today. I’ve spun up almost 2 kgs of silk and merino yarn in green, red and lavender and I’m ready to share the weaving with Sarah on some rigid heddle looms and her new-to-her Master weaver loom.
Love your colour choices in this one and the red jacket. Its inspirational.

The pattern book is great…. but the lack of English in it has me stumped on one or two of the designs 😀

The jacket looks simply splendid! Your weaving is great but also your skill at picking and blending colors is truly spectacular. I wish I loved near enough to you to see you wear it and hear Jim and his group perform. But alas, east is east and west is west and never the twain shall meet. Perhaps there will be a future convention we can get together at and share a cup of tea.
By the way, the furgrandkid looks quite fetching in the jacket, though I would have rather seen a shot of you wearing it. But Miss Kitty looks positively demonic.

Noreen this is lovely. I have a small hand loom (14 X 20) and wish I could do a jacket. Not enough practice I guess. Thanks for posting this, it gives people like me hope!

Actually, the size of the loom does not in any way limit what you can make with it. I have made tons of vests and other garments using only my potholder looms and inkle bands! Looms make fabric, and fabric makes garments. My book: Virtuoso Vests teaches how to make vests with the potholder loom.
