I am passionate about the fiber arts: I love small loom weaving, carving and sculpting, knitting, lace making,, doll making, tatting, tapestry weaving, crochet and wood working and all the fiber arts.
My husband and I enjoy the companionship of our lovely grown up children and their spouses and our darling grandson and our small dogs, and of course we cherish our lovely friends and community.

About Tottie Tomato: Why my blog is called ‘Tottie Talks Crafts’
Many years ago, my husband brought a green tomato into the house, and said: “Look at this tomato! It has a nose!”
Well… I saw right away that that tomato had a personality as well as a nose, and Tottie Tomato was born.
She accompanied us on a trip across Western Canada and had all kinds of adventures.
When the ‘live’ tomato head was, um, ‘done’, I carved an exact replica of the original ‘nosey’ tomato and made the first Tottie Tomato doll.
That Tottie Tomato eventually wore out and lives on in genteel retirement in my studio and in 2016, I carved a new, smaller version of her.
Tottie Tomato lives happily in my studio, supervising all the delights that are created here 🙂

I really appreciate your work and tutos, they are so friendly. How to put it ? You just feel nice and cosy looking at them, as if you were at home with a good friend showing you how to do all this marvelous weaving. . It’s a pity that I don’t seem able to get a copy of your book about peg loom weaving in France, They say it’s not edited any more. Do you plan to edit it again ? I would most certainly buy it. I wonder if you can help me. I am in the NE of Scotland and I am struggling to buy a potholder loom. Crafts shops here do not know what I am talking about even, never mind stock them!! So can you advise me where to buy a quality potholder loom as I don’t want to sent to the USA without knowing for sure that I am getting a quality product.
I would be so grateful for you help.

Hi Noreen, Thank you for your great video tutorials. I think I found a tutorial on how to weave a two-color cord on a four-peg spool knitter, but I can’t find it now. I found one that does not show how to START the project but only how to do one continuing stitch and then cast off. Did I dream it or is there a tutorial on how to begin with two colors on the spool knitter? Thank you!

Unfortunately, I made a big editing error and can’t find the original files, so re-doing the edit isn’t possible. SO… actual beginning of the video is 7 minutes into the video. You can slide the button along the line and start there to learn how to do the cast on, then watch to the end, and click at the beginning to follow through to the end of the video. Heartfelt apologies on this!!!!!

Hi Noreen, I have a basic question about your Weaving on a Potholder Loom video on YouTube. How do you double the strands of yarn before you start weaving? Do you unravel the the ball of yarn and double the whole thing, then re roll it into a ball? Thank-you

Use one strand from the inside of the ball and one strand from the outside of the ball. Or, buy 2 balls of yarn and use one strand from each one. Happy weaving.

Make the vest in 2 pieces (2 triangles of whatever size you choose) that you will stitch together up the center back. Put one armhole in each triangle, and the vest can be as generous in proportion as you like. Happy weaving!

Okay… Now I am at a total loss! Are you ever going to do a video on how to do this??? I cannot fathom how to do the Leno lace on the back if I am making 2 triangles to fit a large lady. If you had a video or written pattern with detailed pictures, I would love to purchase it from you. I am a visual person teaching myself how to do these things. I really appreciate your help!!

Thank you. I do hope that you can find time to do a video in the future. I understand how to do the Leno Lace, I am just confused on where to put the arm holes and lace when you have to make 2 pieces and put them together. I have been trying to draw it out, but can’t seem to wrap my mind around how to do it.
