The Oracle of Stillness-What We Carry In Our Hearts

Our hearts are amazing and miraculous and vast.

They are the holding place for all the stories of our lives.

And, as the stories bubble up into noticing, we have to to decide:

Which stories do I choose to still tell?

What stories have taught me well, and now can be blessed and allowed to drift away into dormancy? What stories seed awe and magic and wonder and healing and connection and clarity so they will bloom in Beauty?

These stories are the best stories to contemplate and cherish and tend to with care.

This Woven Woman is one of the mixed media woven figures from my Oracle of Stillness series.

She is an homage to “What We Carry In Our Hearts”.

I’m posting all the images from the Oracle of Stillness here on www.tottietalkscrafts.com

A Bee Blessing on the Inkle Loom

The other day when I was out in the yard photographing some inkle weaving, a bee landed on the loom and ambled around. She didn’t seem bothered about me and my camera and she let me photograph her.

I was concerned that she might be having a hard time in the heat, so I sat my camera down so I could bring her a little dish of water, but she flew off and started nuzzling tomato flowers.

I hope that she and all her sisters are doing well, and I am grateful to her for stopping for a little visit.

Life is full of little blessings that make our hearts sing, isn’t it?

Video tutorial-How to shape fabric by pulling the warp strands

Yesterday, I posted a blog entry about a shrug that I sewed from my handwoven fabric. (LINK)

And, then, was asked- ‘Yes, but what does it mean when you say: Pull warp strands?’

So, I have made a video tutorial, showing how to pull warp strands to shape ruffles, like the lower edge of the shrug,

or the upper edge of the ‘Woven Woman: Butterfly Transformation” LINK (to see the full piece)

Or, you can pull and ease the warp strands into a more graduated curve, like the yoke of this tunic:

Here’s a closer look:
