Saffron Teddy Bears – How to Weave Their Sun Hats

The Saffron Bears love to have picnics, so of course, they need to have Sun Hats!

I designed the sun hats for the Saffron Bears, but they fit lots of other dolls and soft toys, too.

Here’s how to weave them:

Carved Little Wooden Teddy Bears

I took a break from social media last summer and spent my time carving and weaving 😊

One of the oh so fun series that I carved are these little bears with moveable arms and legs.

These darling little wooden Teddy Bears are approximately 3 1/2 inches tall, although Teddy F is 4 inches tall.

They fit perfectly in the palm of your hand and are very cuddly.

I carved them from very old Douglas Fir.

Teddy A has sold.

Teddy C has a ‘Birthmark’ on the left hand side of his/her face, from a tiny branch that revealed itself in the carving.

He/she wears an oak acorn cap from the lovely oak trees around the corner from us.

Teddy D has sold.

Teddy F is painted gold, but all the others are varnished.

They are all $95 each + shipping

Rolly Polly Flat Teddy Bear

After I designed the tiny knitted comfort bears, LINK , people asked for crocheted comfort bears. LINK.

Then, people asked me for woven comfort bears, and I started sketching and drawing .

The drawings that really delighted me were for a ~flat~ teddy bear, all round and rolly polly. So, I have designed this dear little flat teddy bear to be woven on weaving sticks or peg looms.

A ~FLAT~ Teddy Bear?! Seriously? Yes!

Rolly Polly Flat Bears by Noreen Crone-Findlay http://www.tottietalkscrafts.com

The Rolly Polly Flat Bear is a charming little teddy bear that is meant to be small, because it’s one of my series of comfort bears.  So it fits in the palm of your hand, or in a pocket.

Because it’s small and flat, it can go everywhere.

Rolly Polly Flat Bear can be stitched to a hat or a bag or have a pin stitched to it’s back and be worn as a pin or whatever you can imagine.

It can also be popped into an envelope and mailed to a friend.

Being a very little Rolly Polly Flat Bear is a good thing- it’s so easy to have adventures when you are small and flat.

And,  Rolly Polly Flat Bears are especially good for teddy bear makers, since they are so easy to make.

You can make different sizes of the Rolly Polly Flat Bears by using different sizes of weaving sticks and different thicknesses of yarn.

I’ve decided to make Rolly Polly Flat Bears for our Christmas tree and for all our friends and relations’ Christmas trees, too.

I hope that you will have fun weaving Rolly Polly Flat Bears, and please do take pictures and share them to show what your Rolly Polly Flat Bears have gotten up to!

How to make Edward Bear’s foot

A lady on Ravelry is having trouble making Edward Bear’s foot, so I am going to show some step by steps on how to do it:

Here is Edward Bear with his head and one leg stuffed.

His foot is turned up and the stitching is started along one side of the foot.

Here’s a closeup of measuring the foot- Stitch the edges together around the fold to stitch the foot to the leg- around the sides of the foot and across the top of the foot.

Hope this helps! 😀
